life

steve has the next 3 days off and im so glad. we have so much to do....um, like finally get that audit info back to the IRS before they send us a big fat bill for the part of our '06 refund they dont think we deserve. ive called several times and they said its fine, we have time, but it makes me nervous to keep getting letters. just lots of paperwork to round up and organize.

i have loads of dishes to do tomorrow. im such a slacker with the dishes. If I do manage to eat I usually am holding A or rocking him in his bouncy with one foot. If I eat dinner without him its because I cooked it with him in my arms (or crying to be picked up) OR he wakes up as soon as Im done eating.......so doing the dishes right after we finally get everyone fed is really not plausible most days. If only i had a dish fairy.....

we bought materials for a do-it-yourself shelf in the eating area. this will mean that we can unpack and put away the boxes that are being used to hold the stereo up out of the reach of little hands :) so why not throw in some sanding/painting/installing work to be done! oh and next weekend is Noahs bday party so I might want to put some thought into that sooner rather than later......

so much to do, so little time! life is just so FAST right now. its good, im enjoying it :) but its just so fast. i know its like that for everyone....especially this time of year. I just hate slipping more and more behind!

off to bed i go.....i love getting in next to sweet abram. oh i love that boy. these little creations never stop amazing me. We are so thankful for them!

lots of praying to do before drifting off to sleep......best way to go out, I say :) night!

Learned something new!

ok its way too late and I should be in bed but.......ive been wanting to do more with my pictures as far as processing. i dont have (nor would i ever be able to justify the $700 for) photoshop so Ive just been using picassa which is a very simple, free program. I found out about another free program called GIMP which can do a ton of the things that Photoshop can do. there is a lot to learn but tonight I learned something Ive always wanted to....how to do a B&W image with just one or a few things in color. Picassa has a general tool for this but you can only do it in a circle. Here is what I learned to do in GIMP (color of the eyes was not changed):

Did another one this morning......no color added to his eyes, that is from the original picture! Please no comments about me finally having a child with blue eyes (like mine).....dont want to get my hopes up!

Baby Girl (daddy's nickname for her!)

theres something I really like about this first picture.....

Baby H's First Photo Shoot

Remember Baby H's birth photos a few posts ago? Well he's almost 2 weeks old already and today I went over today to do a photo shoot. It was my first time going to do an official "session" so it was really fun (I did it for free of course, for my experience/practice).

We did the first part with him on the dining room table, with light from the window only. The second part was in the master bedroom, on a chair, light from a door that is in there. It was an exhausting hour! But so much fun :) Here are a few of my favorites so his mama can see........more to come.....

the first is my favorite! Id love to hear any feedback!

(this would be better if his heard wasnt cut off)

Bath time!

Sweet baby boy in the bath.....

Stinky big brothers who needed a bath after their mud fight!

for fun

Halloween

I really hate Halloween. I find it deeply offensive to be shopping for something like food (ahem, Costco!) or some light bulbs (home depot!) and my children be confronted with life-size mummies, skeletons, scary music, etc. Its completely innapropriate.

Sure, little kids are cute in their costumes (the appropriate and non-scary costumes that is) but for me is juts a black mark on fall. I LOVE this time of year - the cooler weather, Thanksgiving, etc but I like it much better once Halloween is over and all that dark, evil stuf is taken down.

Its disturbing that people think its fun to decorate their homes with things that represent DEATH....tombstones, skeletons, etc. Pumpkins are cute. Witches are not. our culture is so numb to it, its scary.

As strongly as I feel that Halloween is useless (evil decorations, expensive costumes and kids out asking for candy they shouldnt be eating) I have explained to Noah, our evangelist and black-and-white, very inquisitive son that some people do evil on Halloween but some people just dress up cute and have a nice time. Ive tried to teach him that its not an evil day in and of itself, but its what people do on that day and that its ok if people want to just dress up and have fun in a good way :)

well.........as we left the chiropractors office this past week, and through the lobby, she asked them what they were going to be for halloween. There was a brief silence then Noah and I both said gently that we dont celebrate Halloween. Then he looked up, looked her right in the eyes and calmly said "we think its from the devil" .............OH - MY - STARS! If i would have been sucked up into the ground that would have been just fine with me. i was totally horrified. My sweet son - not ashamed of the gospel!

of course "we" do NOT say that to them or anyone else. We'd never want to make anyone feel bad for innocent fun, especially a non-believer. She was totally shocked by that answer (as you can imagine, being he is 6!) and kind of laughed and I kind of laughed and said something like "its really not that big of a deal, we just dont celebrate it" (meaning our reason wasnt that serious). Oh dear. I am taking Abram back in on Monday (cant say enough about babies and cranial manipulation and chiropractic care!!!!!) and Im just going to have to talk to her about it. I totally hate having talks like that. But I want to explain that while we are conservative Christians and we dont celebrate Halloween, we do not teach our children to say its "from the devil" nor do we think anything is wrong with dressing up (she has a 2yr old).

I still wish there was no Halloween at all. And I do believe Satan delights in a day where the things of his domain are made light of and even celebrated. But we are working with Noah on thinking about how we make people feel by what we say (without backing away from truth!)

kids say the darndest things dont they?! :)

Big brother got in quite a bit of trouble......sigh......not the fun part of parenting thats for sure.

Daddy's Little Girl

could resist sharing this one too....

Happy Birthday Noah!!!!

Noah turned 6 today :) We are having our cousins over tonight for dinner and a bigger party with friends in Nov. Its a rainy day so its been perfect for skipping school and watching movies :) Here are some pictures I took out on the front porch.......we love you sweet Noah!!!

(this is his favorite outfit. both the shirt and the pants are too small but they are his "army clothes" and he loves them. The boys fight over the shirt all the time!)

Click on this to see it larger and you can see me reflected in his eye - oops!

Sleeping Beauty

we went to Central Market today after lunch. I guess JJ got tired playing at the park with the boys :) She fell asleep on the way home but Caleb woke her up which I was going to do anyways. She seemed wide-awake but fell asleep during quiet time and I didnt know it (naps are avoided at all costs now because she stays up forever on days she naps). Anyways she fell asleep with her balloon, all cuddled up with her blanket from her aunties :)

Just for fun, I took this the other day when she was "talking" to grandma :)

Birth Pictures

Shared with permission of course :)

I got to visit "Baby H" yesterday. He is so tiny compared to my chunker of a baby (he was 7lbs1oz at birth - almost 3lbs less than Abram!!!) :) Mama and baby are both doing well!

Turns out this shirt is the one he wore to propose in - so they really liked this picture!
